Tucked away on the 10th floor of a high rise building in JP Nagar, this apartment offers rare privacy in the heart of South Bangalore. The home is perched within a circular building, a rare architectural form that brought both charm and complexity to the design process.
The home belongs to a young couple who envisioned a space that could evolve with them. They wanted a place that felt rooted yet flexible, ideal for both intimate gatherings and their growing family. The existing linear living space was transformed into a series of thoughtfully zoned areas—an elevated bar with city views, a cozy dining corner near the kitchen, and two distinct lounges separated by a sliding partition that doubles as a TV wall. These shifts brought layers and intimacy into an otherwise open-plan layout.
A standout feature is the sculptural swirl ceiling in the informal living space, inspired by Gaudí. Crafted in CNC-cut wood, it becomes the central element that uplifts the entire home, anchoring it with a sense of movement and artistry. Throughout the apartment, bold choices like peach-toned walls, contrasting greens, and a hand-sketched clay mural at the entrance reflect the couple’s vibrant personalities and shared stories.
Spatial changes were guided by function and lifestyle. The kitchen was divided into a show kitchen and a concealed wet kitchen. Two rooms were combined to form the master suite, complete with a vaulted-ceiling lounge, a walk-in wardrobe, and connected balconies that offer a sense of retreat within the larger home. Rounded furniture, curved ceilings, and custom lighting give the home its playful, soft aesthetic while responding to the building’s architecture.
Materials were layered with care—concrete, wood, aluminium, GRC, and glass—all coming together to create texture and warmth. Handmade clay lights, designed in collaboration with Indian artisans, echo the mural’s narrative and bring a tactile, local sensibility. Every detail reflects the couple’s journey and the design team’s effort to create a home that is imaginative, rooted, and deeply personal.
